About The Artist...

Lin at work I've always loved the ocean and in my twenty-seven
plus year career, I've attempted to capture the effects
of light and color in my paintings. I've received
countless acknowledgements for my efforts including
awards, magazine and newspaper articles, and
one-woman exhibits in galleries nationwide. " I also
wrote Painting Seascapes in Sharp Focus -- one of the
classic art-instruction books on the subject. Though
now out of print, it remains much in demand.

It isn't uncommon to see my work in the art sections of Bed, Bath and Beyond; Kohl's
and Michaels to name a few that I know of. Earlier in my career, I was fortunate enough
to be one of twenty-one artists selected for inclusion in the book, Becoming a Successful
Artist
by Lewis Lehrman (North Light Books, 1992).

For this and other accomplishments, I was also selected for inclusion
in the World's Who's Who of Women  (International Biographical
Center, London, England).

When I'm not painting, one of my favorite pastimes is flying down
switchbacks on my mountain bike with my husband on the twisty trails
many ski resorts have developed as a source of summer revenue.  Most
summers, my husband and I ride 500 or 600 miles of these gnarly
off-road trails called "single-track" (because they are about 10" wide
in most places).  For the most part, our rides are strenuous and
exhilarating but uneventful.  Of course, mountain biking is a contact
sport (contact with rocks, shins, pedals, etc.) and after several rides, it isn't unusual for
us both to have enough bruises to pass for Dalmatians.

On one particularly demanding ride, as I took my third trip down a
steep, rocky descent over loose dirt and gravel on a ski slope in Lake
Tahoe, I demonstrated my flying ability by taking a short unscheduled
flight over the handlebars.  But, as they say on TV, "I'm OK!"  Within
minutes, I was back in the saddle and ready for more.  As true mountain
biking aficionados say, "It's a great sport as long as you don't run out of skin..."
